An advisory from the Light Rail Transit-Line 2 (LRT-2) management for last week’s “Undas” observance has sparked playful responses from social media users
On October 28, the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) shared a screenshot from the Notes app announcing the LRT-2’s All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day schedule.
The announcement confirmed that the LRT-2 would operate on a normal schedule on November 1 and 2, with the first train departing from Recto and Antipolo stations at 5 a.m. The last trips would leave from Recto at 9:30 p.m. and from Antipolo at 9 p.m.
The simple format of the advisory, which felt casual and unpolished, caught the attention of netizens, who responded with humor. The post quickly gained traction, receiving over 1,600 likes, laugh reactions, 260 shares, and 66 comments. The page administrator even joined the light-hearted banter, commenting, “Oh di ba, napansin niyo? Ingat po sa biyahe!” Later, the LRTA followed up with a more polished infographic, adding, “So, ito na nga. Basta normal operations pa rin po tayo sa #Undas2024.”
The post’s informal style prompted witty remarks from users who speculated about the admin’s situation. One user joked, “Eto ‘yung resulta pag naka-bakasyon na ‘yung admin ta’s inutusan pa rin ng boss gumawa ng #Undas2024 LRT reminder, hahaha.” Another added, “Nagbakasyon na ata ang Creatives nila,” while a third quipped, “‘Not feeling well’ si editor, nag-sick leave na.”
The Undas season is a deeply ingrained tradition in the Philippines, when families gather to visit the graves of their deceased loved ones. Often, it’s also an opportunity for extended family reunions, blending solemn remembrance with family connection. During this time, public transportation services are essential, helping facilitate the movement of millions across the country as they honor their traditions. The LRT-2’s advisory, while simple, provided essential information for the holiday, demonstrating how even routine announcements can contribute to the public conversation.
