Artists launch urgent appeal for post-Typhoon Kristine relief in Bicol Region

By Michelle Ducut

In response to the devastation wrought by Typhoon Kristine, which has left communities across the Bicol Region struggling with massive displacement and infrastructure damage, the Kurit-Lagting Art Collective and the Bicol Chapter of Concerned Artists of the Philippines (CAP Bicol) have organized a fundraiser. The goal is to mobilize relief resources for those affected, providing essential aid where local support falls short.

The initial round of donations was already directed to a community kitchen in Bulan, Sorsogon, which supplied hot meals to families who lost their homes, as well as to artist-members impacted by the storm. However, shortages of basic necessities, including food, clean water, shelter, and medical supplies, have spurred an urgent call for further contributions.

“The storm has left many without homes, with damage extending to schools and healthcare facilities across the region,” said representatives from Kurit-Lagting and CAP Bicol. “We ask for your support in providing essential aid. Even small donations can make a difference in saving lives and restoring hope to affected families.”

The groups are requesting donations via GCash, which can be sent to: Jerraine Ruth Jocutan with GCash Number: 09504750128. For more information and updates on relief efforts, donors are encouraged to visit the official social media channels of Kurit-Lagting Art Collective and CAP Bicol Chapter.

With communities reeling from the storm’s impact, these organizations emphasize the importance of solidarity and support from across the country to help Bicol rebuild and recover.
