79th Infantry ‘Masaligan’ Battalion holds ‘Shine Brightest Christmas Lighting Ceremony’

The 79th Infantry “Masaligan” Battalion marked the beginning of the holiday season with its annual “Shine Brightest Christmas Lighting Ceremony” on December 1, 2024. The event, held at the battalion headquarters, brought together soldiers, their families, local government officials, and community leaders to celebrate the spirit of unity, peace, and hope.

The ceremony featured the illumination of festive lights, symbolizing the shared aspirations of the battalion and the communities it serves for peace and prosperity. Lieutenant Colonel Jon P. Riego, Commanding Officer of the 79th Infantry Battalion, emphasized in his address that the true light of the season lies in service and resilience. He urged the audience to embody the spirit of unity and solidarity as they work toward a brighter future for the region.

The event also highlighted the battalion’s role in maintaining peace and order in Negros Occidental.
