70 grams of shabu seized, suspect arrested in Dagupan buy-bust operation

DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan – A combined effort by police and anti-narcotics operatives led to the arrest of a drug suspect and the confiscation of 70 grams of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Bonuan Gueset this city early on December 11, 2024.

At approximately 4:31 a.m., authorities targeted Jaypee Castro, 36,  resident of Barangay Caranglaan, Dagupan City, who is identified as a high-value individual (HVI) allegedly involved in the local drug trade. Castro was apprehended after allegedly selling illegal drugs to an undercover officer.

The narcotics recovered consisted of 70 grams of suspected shabu, packaged in seven heat-sealed plastic sachets, with an estimated street value of P476,000.

Along with the drugs, several non-drug items were also seized, including:

  • P500 genuine money and P1,000 boodle money used in the transaction
  • 1 black sling bag
  • 1 small digital weighing scale
  • 1 unit of Caliber .38 revolver with 2 live rounds and 1 spent shell
  • 1 black pouch
  • 1 Motoposh 150 motorcycle (Plate number 1981PX)

Following his arrest, Castro was brought to the Dagupan City Police Station for further processing. 

He will face charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (Republic Act 9165) and for illegal possession of firearms. 

The inventory of the recovered evidence was completed on-site, with mandatory witnesses present, in accordance with legal procedures.
