7 killed, 8 hurt as van collides with truck in Sariaya, Quezon

MANILA – Seven persons, including a 2-year-old girl, were killed while eight others were hurt when a passenger van and delivery truck collided in Sariaya, Quezon, early Sunday morning.

Lt. Col. Chitadel Gaoiran, Police Regional Office-Calabarzon spokesperson, said the van driver and two of six passengers died on the spot. The other four succumbed at the hospital.

Reports said the crash happened around 5:30 a.m. along Maharlika Highway in Barangay Sto. Cristo after Bermudo “swerved and occupied” the opposite lane, and collided with a south-bound truck.

Seven other passengers of the van, identified as Ariel Caliro, Louis Aldea, Antero Vergara, Gilber Caliro, Jomar Caliro, Anjo Caliro, and Sarah Concepcion, are recuperating in a hospital.

The truck driver, Crisanto Saculo, was also injured. (PNA)
