6 dead in Laguna bus-SUV collision

MANILA – At least six persons were killed while 57 others were hurt in a collision between a passenger bus and a sports utility vehicle (SUV) in Majayjay, Laguna province.

In a report on Monday, the Majayjay Municipal Station said the mishap occurred along a road in Barangay Bakia at around 3:25 p.m. Sunday.

An APR Transportation bus coming from Lucban, Quezon was traversing the curved downhill portion of the road when it collided with a Hyundai SUV traveling in the opposite direction. The bus then rammed into a tree after wrecking the SUV.

The Majayjay Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) said the still unidentified fatalities include five adults and a boy who is estimated to be between 10 to 15 years old.

Rescuers, meanwhile, brought the injured victims to several hospitals.

The police are now investigating the cause of the crash. (PNA)
