38 former POGO workers get new jobs at DOLE special job fair

MANILA – Thirty-eight former Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGO) workers got new jobs during the special job fair organized by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City from November 19 to 20.

“Of the total hired applicants, 38 were displaced/would-be displaced Internet Gaming Licensees (IGL) workers,” the DOLE said on Thursday.

The 38 POGO workers were among the 138 hired-on-the-sport (HOTS) in the DOLE Action Plan and Transition Project (DAPAT) in response to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to assist displaced workers.

The DOLE said the 136 HOTS are equivalent to 15.72 percent of the 865 jobseekers who registered for the fair.

The 790 participating employers across various industries have offered 12, 378 job vacancies. (PNA)
