3 Davao farmers relieved of nearly P5-M agrarian debt

MANILA – The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has relieved three farmers in the Davao region of nearly PHP5 million in agrarian debts as part of its condonation program.

Beneficiaries Rodolfo Torrejos of Barangay Sirawan, Tori District, Davao City; Edgardo Romaguera of Barangay Ibo, Malalag, Davao del Sur; and Rico Masaglang of Barangay Malalag Tubig, Santa Maria, Davao Occidental collectively had PHP4.94 million in loans forgiven, the department said in a press release on Thursday.

The three farmers were part of 2,207 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) who were awarded a Certificate of Condonation with Release of Mortgage (COCROM) during a ceremony in Digos City on Wednesday.

Senator Imee Marcos led the distribution of 2,501 COCROM to the ARBS covering 2,883 hectares of farmland, erasing debts totaling PHP150.4 million. (PNA)
