The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Caraga Region (PRO-13) reported the recovery of 212 loose firearms and nine explosives during a month-long operation from October 24 to November 20, 2024.

Of the total firearms, 66 were seized through search warrants and response operations, while 144 were voluntarily surrendered during Oplan Bakal and Oplan Katok initiatives. Agusan del Sur had the highest number of recovered firearms with 81, followed by Agusan del Norte with 43.

The nine explosives were seized in separate operations conducted by various police units in the region. The most recent operation, which took place in Barobo, Surigao del Sur on November 14, led to the arrest of five suspects and the confiscation of hand grenades and firearms.

PRO-13 Director Brigadier General Alan Nazarro attributed the successful operations to community support and urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities.
