2 weather systems to dampen most of PH

MANILA – The shear line and the northeast monsoon or “amihan” will bring rains across most areas in the country, the weather bureau said Thursday.

Scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms caused by the shear line will be experienced in the Visayas, Bicol Region, Mimaropa, Quezon, and Dinagat Islands.

Heavy to intense rains are forecast in Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Northern Samar.

Moderate to heavy rains will prevail over Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Masbate, Romblon, Aklan, Capiz, Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, and Leyte.

“Amihan” will bring rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Central Luzon.

Moderate to heavy rains in the aforementioned areas could result in flash floods or landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon will also cause isolated light rains over the rest of Luzon.

PAGASA said the rest of Mindanao, on the other hand, will have isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

The northern and eastern sections of Luzon and Visayas will have moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas.

No low-pressure area was monitored for possible tropical cyclone formation, PAGASA said.  (PNA)
