2 arrested, P5.7-M shabu seized in Zamboanga City

Two male drug couriers were arrested, and over PHP 5.7 million worth of suspected shabu was seized during an anti-drug operation in Zamboanga City on Sunday night.

Brig. Gen. Bowenn Joey Masauding, director of the Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula (PRO-9), confirmed the arrests of the suspects, aged 63 and 48, who are residents of Sta. Barbara and Zone 4 villages, respectively.

The suspects were apprehended during a buy-bust operation at approximately 7:30 p.m. in Barangay Sta. Catalina. Authorities confiscated around 850 grams of suspected shabu packed in transparent plastic sachets, along with the boodle money used in the sting operation.

The operation was led by the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit-9, with assistance from local police units and the Naval Intelligence Security Group-Western Mindanao.

In a separate operation on Saturday afternoon, two more suspects were arrested in Barangay Arena Blanco, where PHP 442, 000 worth of suspected shabu was seized. Lt. Col. Helen Galvez, PRO-9 information officer, reported that the arrested individuals—a 35-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman—are both unemployed.
