The Department of Justice has thrown the first hard punch this week, announcing a ₱1-million reward for any tip that leads authorities straight to Cassandra Li Ong — a key figure wanted in a major human trafficking case tied to a POGO hub in Pasig. Acting Justice Secretary Frederick Vida said the bounty is open to anyone who can provide “credible, actionable information” that results in Ong’s lawful arrest, signaling that the government is done waiting for suspects in high-profile trafficking networks to surface on their own.
Ong, linked to Lucky South 99 and Whirlwind Corp., has been implicated in operations involving the trafficking of workers inside a POGO compound — one of several hubs recently exposed for coercion, exploitation, and criminal activity. With her court proceedings underway and no appearance from the accused, Vida said the reward is meant to accelerate her capture and close a case that has rattled both lawmakers and anti-crime agencies. The DOJ urged the public to coordinate with authorized law enforcement only, emphasizing that the next lead could be the one that lands Ong behind bars.
